    A fastidiously old-fashioned love story with sloppy, soppy existential ideas and more than enough droll narrative tricks to see it through to the end.

      That whole ‘naked middle-aged dude meets young child alone in a field’ opening might play in a novel, but it’s always going to seem a little too weird on screen…
